Depending on the weather conditions, the Broadwater offers numerous sheltered and interesting anchorages to explore. These are just a few of our favourite spots. When you have your on board brief each area will be discussed in full with you.
TIPPLERS PASSAGE An ideal first night anchorage. Affords excellent protection from prevailing South Easterly winds plus provides easy access to the beach. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the friendly dolphins and wallabies.
DUX ANCHORAGE Explore the scenic sand flats and pump for yabbies. Great beaches to take the kids for a swim.
NORTHERN BEDROOMS Otherwise known as ‘Millionaires’ Row’. Discover the tranquillity of the Broadwater and take a stroll over the sand dunes to the surf side of South Stradbroke Island.
JACOBS WELL Situated on the main landside of the Broadwater this delightful anchorage gives you a chance to hang the fishing lines over. If the bites are a bit slow have lunch ashore at the renowned Tavern.
TIGER MULLET CHANNEL & WHALLEYS GUTTER Good protected anchorages to get out of the wind. Try putting your pots in here for a feed of crabs.
SLIPPING SANDS Visit the striking sand dunes off southwest North Stradbroke Island. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles and dugong that feed on teh seagrass and weed beds in this area. This is a great spot to soak up the scenery and do some bird watching.
CANAIPA POINT One of the best kept secrets of the Broadwater. Pretty secluded beaches make the anchorage off Russel Island well worth the trip north.
WAVEBREAK ISLAND Prefer the skyline of Surfers Paradise? Then head south to Wavebreak Island. Wavebreak Island offers some more interesting sites for snorkelling.
